Cole Young Dedicates 5th 125 Micro Win To Injured Father

SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Jake Hummel of Sunbury wired the field for his third win of the season in Friday night’s 25-lap micro sprint car feature at Selinsgrove Raceway Park.
Hummel started on the pole and powered into the lead at the drop of the green flag while fourth-place starter Jessica Miller raced a solid second for the duration of the event.
The race was stopped on the second lap when ninth-place starter Ken Duke flipped his race car in turn one. Duke escaped injury and was able to rejoin the race after the mishap. On the ensuing restart, Hummel continued to set the pace with Miller and fifth-place starter Nathan Long in pursuit.
During the second half of the race, Hummel was able to check on each restart. Miller held off Long for second, while point leader and sixth-place starter Todd Hoover see-sawed with third-place starter Dan Dunkleberger for the fourth position.
At the checkered flag, Hummel was victorious over Miller, Long, Hoover, and Dunkleberger.

In the 15-lap 125 micro sprint car feature, Cole Young scored his fifth win of the season at Selinsgrove. He dedicated the win to his father, Niki Young, who was hospitalized earlier in the week for injuries he sustained in an accident in the family’s race shop.
Selinsgrove Raceway Park will present a program of go kart and micro sprint car racing at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 3. Track gates will open at 5:30 p.m.
