SELINSGROVE, Pa. April 8, 2006 - Blane Heimbach of Selinsgrove drove to a second convincing win this season in Saturday night's 25-lap sprint car feature at Selinsgrove Speedway. Heimbach drew the pole position for the start of the feature and wired the field for his 13th career win at the track while driving the Creasy Signs/Goff Racing No. 12.
Jeff Rine of Danville won the 25-lap late model feature, while AJ Stroup of Evandale was awarded the win in the 15-lap pro stock feature following Troy Miller's "rough driving" disqualification.
Keith Bissinger of Orangeville was victorious in the 12-lap roadrunner feature. Selinsgrove Speedway will present a four division show of 358 sprints, late models, pro stocks and roadrunners at 7 p.m. Sat., April 15.
Polesitter Blane Heimbach broke away from second-place starter Adrian Shaffer and third-place starter Kevin Nouse at the drop of the green flag in the sprint car feature. The race was stopped on lap four when 13th-place starter Colby Womer hit the wall in turn four and flipped over several times. Womer was not injured. When the race resumed, Nouse attempted to stick with Heimbach to no avail. Heimbach set a convincing pace while Nouse and fourth-place starter Jason Shultz dueled for the second position for most of the event. At the checkered flag, Heimbach was victorious by 6.16 seconds over Nouse, Shultz, Shaffer and Davie Franek.
Polesitter Jeff Smith led the first half of the late model feature with second-place starter Donnie Schick and fourth-place starter Chris Shuey in close pursuit the first several laps. On the eighth lap, however, Schick entered the pit area with a flat tire while the race was under caution. Seventh-place starter Jeff Rine made an entrance the second half of the event when he stormed around both Shuey and Smith for the lead in turn two. Rine then streaked away from the field and posted a 3.38 second margin of victory over Shuey, Smith, Tony Adams and Brian Cochran.
Second-place starter Dan Jensen took the lead at the start of the pro stock feature and was chased by polesitter AJ Hoffman, fifth-place starter AJ Stroup and ninth-place starter Peanut Heintzelman.
Defending champion Troy Miller started eighth and stormed to the front of the pack to take the lead on lap eight. In the final laps, 11th-place starter Gary Beward, who was going for four wins in a row, challenged Miller for the lead and win.
On the final lap, Beward pulled alongside Miller in turn four, and the two cars collided. Beward struck the fourth turn guardrail, while Miller went on to the take the checkered flag. Miller, however, was penalized for "rough driving" and the win was awarded to Stroup over Meade Hahn,
Hoffman, Steve Stitt and Beward.
Polesitter Matt Keister led the first three laps of the roadrunner feature before 11th-place starter Keith Bissinger powered into the lead using the high line in turns one and two on lap four. Bissinger took the checkered flag over Keister, Brad Mitch, Matt Drum and Gary Kerstetter in the 5:50.47 non-stop event. The track surface was in excellent condition at Selinsgrove Speedway this evening.
Track preparer Steve Paige and all track personnel are to be commended for the work they did to the speedway giving fans and drivers a superb night of racing at the Snyder county oval.
